Steering problem for 2001 chevrolet malibu?
I have a 2001 chevrolet malibu and when i reach the speed of 60 the car has weird vibrations and the right front tire will lock up and send me into the other lane. i have taken it to numerous car repair shops and they say nothing is wrong with it. i have had new wheel bearings put into it, had the car be put back into alignment, and had my tires changed. Any Solutions please?????
My son's car was totaled and the insurance company offered us a very low price?
My son was rear ended at a high rate of speed. He was pushed 6 feet into the car in front of him. The guy had to really be moving when he hit my son. He was driving a 1999 Chevy Lumina LS. The blue book value according to NADA is $5000. It only had 78,000 miles onthe car. No rust on the body and overall in excellent shape. The insurance company offered me $3600 for the car. I can NOT find a replacement car in that shape for that price...
Chevy Trailblazer Radio says locked?
My husband owns a used car lot and he took a CD player out of one Chevy Trailblazer on his carlot and put it in my Chevy Trailblazer. The radio now says locked? He told me that a Chevrolet Dealership will have the unlock code and for me to call them and get it. I called them and they said i have to bring my car down there to them.. Does someone know how to unlock my radio or have the radio code? I have a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Whats wrong with my engine?
I have a 1992 Lumina 3.1L with 93K on it. The body of the car is in great shape so when the transmission went a few weeks ago I actually went ahead and swapped it out. I got the car back yesterday after the work was done and they did an oil change as well. Now my engine is knocking after it warms up and is pretty loud. Any ideas? The car sat for about a month between when the trans went and when it got fixed. I'm in Syracuse NY and its been frigid here for the last week or so too.

Tranny troubles; any advice?
I currently have a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Euro, 3.1 engine and a 4-speed transmission with a mechanically-engaged overdrive. Recently, I have been having problems with my overdrive gear. When I go to work, which is about 45 miles away, the overdrive would not engage at all until about a mile away from work. I have already changed the transmission fluid and added some Lucas Oil transmission treatment and it still will not work. Any thoughts? Hopefully, this doesn't resort to me rebuilding the transmission after I get a newer car in better shape.

Does a crank shaft position sensor have a break in time for a 92 chevy lumina?
if you are having a break in time and its related the the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) either the sensor is bad itself or not a tight connection on the plug, and every so often the male pins that go to the female pins can get a film on them due to oxidation, so unplug the sensor and plug it back in and see if the vehicle does the thing that it has been doing. Could also test the sensor if you are able to get a voltmeters leads to the connector wires while the vehicle is running, but usually u cannot depending on the location of the sensor.
Truck Battery Dies if left sitting for more than a day, battery is brand new but the old battery did the same?

I dated this chick for about 6 months that got out of a divorce back in May. So to make the long story short we never did become bf and gf. More of a friends with benefits thing, the sex was amazing between us. I knew she was not ready for a relationship even though she sometimes said she wished she did have one. Well this last weekend she contacts me and of course I contact her back and we end up talking on the phone for about an hour. This is the first time we have spoke on the phone since she ended it. Well near the end of the convo she gets sexual with me and it ends up being phone sex stuff. So after that I did not txt her no more and at about 3 am I get a txt from her saying please don't contact me no more we can't talk anymore. I txt back and said what, the next txt was go check your FB. So doing that it ended up being her bf was texting me from her phone and sent me an email to my FB. The email did not put any threats towards me but told me not to contact. Well come to find out she had passed out and he went into her phone and did not like some of the txts. So the next day she talked to me about it after finding out and she act like it was no big deal. Now wouldn't you be like really mad if your guy went into your phone? Also why would she be still contacting me and the first time we talk it ends up being sexual. Any other thoughts would help as well.

This going to sound crazy but i wasn't the only person who saw this?
we was in the store today and everyone in the store except the people that work there looked all strange and weird. We was walking all through the store and this dude with a problem was following us and he didn't have a basket so we kept walking and people were looking at us strange and out the corner of there eyes and we're looking out the corner of our eyes to at them. So as we walking another lady said sorry i don't mean to stop y'all for a crazy question i'm about to ask but don't these people in this store look strange to y'all. And we said yea they do and she said her mama left out the store because she didn't feel right being the store. I mean seriously if any of y'all was in this store you to would be freaking out to and the killing part is it always happen on a certain day when it feel and look that way

I have a 1992 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1L Sedan. The problem started last night. I drove about 40 miles, stopped and went to a mall for about 45 minutes. Came back to my car, started it (just fine), shifted into reverse and the car sounded like it wanted to die. Backed out of the parking spot, shifted into drive and it seemed like there was hardly any power or acceleration. It only does this while the car is in gear. So I drove it like this (had to get home), and while driving, I went to highway speeds (65-75mph which took a little longer than normal) and I was trying to listen to the car when all of a sudden it went back to normal operating ranges. At first, I thought the car was possibly slipping gears, but then I realized that the gears were shifting just fine. So I have come to the conclusion that it could be a sensor? If anyone has experience with this type of situation, or needs more info on what happened, just let me know and I will explain the best I can. I would like to get this fixed as quick as possible, but I know cars, and sometimes that is impossible. So, is it a sensor or something else in your opinion(s)?

Replaced Fuel pump no fuel in lines?
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. The fuel pump was not making noise and no fuel in lines. I replaced fuel pump and now still have no fuel in lines. I disconnected the line to the Injector harness. No fuel. Worked back to fuel filter. Disconnected the IN line and no fuel prior to filter from the pump. What is the next thing I should be looking at??

Ok, so I have a 1979 Chevrolet Berlinetta Camaro that is in close to great condition. It has everything original except a sound system installed (nothing major, just two 5's). The engine compartment is dirty and it does have the original engine in it (with 169xxx miles) but the car runs GREAT. and the body of the car is immaculate, no corrosion or rust. Interior is great, just some paint chipping on the driver's side rear quarter panel. Now I am here asking where do I go if I would like to sell the car for restoration purposes.....not Craigslist or eBay. I need a club member of some sort to go to and sell it. Why isn't the fan working in my truck?
There should be blower motor speed control resistors located near the blower motor. These are probably blown and causing the blower motor not to get any power. The power goes through these resistors before it goes to the blower motor.

Help me find a good iPod Touch 4th gen case?
So I've been looking around for a new case or two on the internet for my iPod Touch 4th gen.. When I first ordered it on Amazon, I also ordered two cases with it. One was rubber, and it works okay but has problems staying on when I touch the screen in various ways. The other one was a hard shell, which worked great until I realized I couldn't exactly take it off whenever I wanted. The things on the sides that held it on (it was two parts, the case on the back and the little outline on the front holding it on) started to break eventually though, and I was able to get it off but obviously it's not going back on. I want to order a good and reliable case or two. Hard shell or rubber, whichever works good. I'll be ordering off the internet, and I would prefer that I could find it on Amazon. If Ebay, it has to be a buy it now, I don't want to have to worry about bidding. Anywhere else, it needs to be a reliable site. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 1996 Chevy Lumina with the 3.1 engine and 105,000 miles on it. The fuel injector on the number 5 cylinder has failed. The mechanic I have the car at is quoting me $561 to replace it. He says in order to get at it, they have to remove the upper section of the intake manifold.

90 lumina stalls within the first ten minutes of driving?
I have a 90 lumina 3.1 four months ago during the summer it died and wouldnt start again. it seemed to be overheating. i checked the spark plugs and one of them is stripped and i wasn't able to get the money for a new head or helicoil so i could get the spark plug out. but in the winter months i got it to run and drive like normal. During the first 5 or 10 minutes the coolant light turns on and it runs really rough and will stall when you hit the gas after stoping. but after the 5 or 10 minutes the coolant light shuts off and the car runs good other than the weird idle it has which sounds like a miss but it doesn't stall. now it seems to have a small small gas leak. it has 204XXXXXX miles and shifts hard. why would it be doing this?
How To Improve Fuel Economy In Impala?
I just boought a 2003 Chevrolet Impala (3400 Motor) recently, and of the main reasons it was bought was for the good fuel economy (EPA estimated 21 City, 25 Combined, 32 MPG City). Well the problem is it is only getting 18 MPG combined. The car has everything replaced in it recently, oil, transmission fluid, tires. My question is, what else would be causing this huge lack of good mileage?

Locating and Cleaning an EGR Valve in my 2000 Chevy Lumina?
You have a EGR code?. Its not that simple. If you have a 3100, you are going to be removing the Intake manifold and digging, scraping and maybe even drilling out the carbon deposits that are the root cause of the EGR system not working. Thats normally the problem. the valve is right next to the Throttle body. Three rusty bolts hold it on and a 5 wire flat connector on top. Cleaning the valve wont be much more than knocking out a piece of carbon thats got the pintle stuck open. But those chunks are coming from loss build up thats breaking free from the intake port.

Even after you pay $10-20 for a Chilton repair manual for that year and model car, you will still be money ahead from paying a shop to do it. The EGR valve is located on the intake manifold on the top of the engine. It has vacuum hose/s going to it. It is usually held on by 2 bolts. Sometimes these bolts are easy to get to. Others need to have special tools to reach them or need other parts moved out of the way. In any case, you can do this. An illustrated manual will make it easy for you to see how to do it.

Can auto technicans take advantage of you, especially if you're a woman?
I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina, my car would not start. Luckily, this all happened in my driveway and not on the highway! I called AAA last night and he tested my battery and alternator, both were in poor condition (the alternator tested in the yellow, about a 12). Before this happened, I left the car running for 10 minutes to warm up (I live in MN), but 3 hours before, my car was running normal. I explained to a family member about what happened and he said, quote, “that doesn’t make any sense”. I moved to a metropolitan area where I do not know anybody personally who can even help me to repair my car. Also, too, I’m worried I was taken advantage of by the local auto technician. Could there be another underlying issue that the technician didn’t even want to take the time to diagnose, such as maybe tightening the alternator belt or just charging the battery altogether? Before this happened, none of my indicator lights came on, such as the battery light or service engine light. Thanks for the help!

Is author of book saying car is good or bad?
The Lumina may have been a dependable car but it had no pizazz. Just basic transportation. To me that's not all bad.

Question about car mileage?
What are the chances that my car, a Chevrolet Cavalier (year 2000) will make it to 200,000 miles or more than that. I drive 40 minutes back and forth to work 5 days a week. Some people have told me they don't think it's going to last that much longer. I get the oil changed every 3000 miles and get the tires balanced and rotated every 6000 miles. Doesn't that help?
1995 chevy lumina engine replacement?
i have a 1995 chevy lumina 3.1L engine...a couple months ago i had a bottom end knock and the engine just jammed up. so now i have to get a new engine but when i look for a 3.1L it has options such as "upper, ctr AC mtg on block drilled/tapped " and "upper, ctr AC mtg on block not drilled/tapped " im not too sure which one i have and mechanics cant tell me over the phone so is there anyway i can check which one it is? maybe pics or links? thanks

Engine is louder than usual?
I have a 90 Lumina 3.1. It has a new exhaust from the flex pipe back to the muffler, new spark plugs and wires, new coil packs, new IAC, fuel pressure regulator and gaskets. My question is: Why am I getting bad gas mileage and have a loud engine? I used to get around 25 mpg. I now get 16 mpg. My pressure regulator went and had that replaced and it doesnt help. My engine is super loud when taking off.. similiar to a jet (not as loud as). It doesnt sound like an exhaust leak though. Exhaust Mainfold? How do I check for this? My engine has a vibration and no CEL.

Just picked up a brand spanking new Chevrolet Aveo last week from the dealers and I think it has quite a lot of condensation/mist/water droplets forming on the inside of the headlights already. I wonder if all Aveo's are like this or have we just got one where the seals on the headlamps are not that good and letting in moisture? or whether it will eventually evaporate and will be OK. anyone have any ideas? cheers.

Okay, so it's been almost a year since I got my limited license, and i am looking for a car to buy. My favorite color is yellow, so i want a yellow car. After a day of looking for a car I found two that i really liked..i don't know which one i like the most because both of them are great cars. The first is a Chevrolet corvette this one is 2002, convertible, 7 cylinders, has around 20,000 miles. The inside of the car is leather seats and is very pretty. This car sells at $22,500. The second one, i think might have been a Dodge Challender 2005 with only 5000 miles on it. I love the inside of this car because its black leather seats with yellow trimming. The outside of the car is something of a problem for me because it does not have the black stripes, instead it has a block sort of thing, but the wheels look great. This one is $23,000. I was wondering should I proceed about selling my car? Its a 1996 Chevy Lumina with the 3.1L V6. It has a little over 260,000 miles on it and it runs ok. No more major problems for now. I have owned the car only for a few months and in this time my husband has had to replace fuel pump, 3 tires, and a series of odds and in parts. Just the number scares us. He knows cars and has an interest in them, but doesn't have the time for alot of stuff. The car has alot of minor problems, but any of which can become serious. But I don't want us to waste money in alot of stuff to get it in great mechanical shape and it just crap out on us because of a blown head gasket or something almost unpreventable. Also we would love to put in a new stereo and speakers because they all don't work, but again don't want to waste money even if the stereo can be removed. Also cosmetically its pretty bad but not horrible. Also alot of quarter size dents and dings on the outside and miss matched panels and paint. Should we invest in this car? My husband doesn't have the time to compression test it and we don't have the immediate funds to get those tests done now. Any suggestions would be helpful. We don't want a car payment . Thanks.

My 1990 Chevy Lumina usually starts right up, but half the time it dies immediately after and I have to keep revving it to keep it going. How can I not get ripped off when I take my brakes in to get changed?
I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina sedan. About 5 or so days ago I noticed a grinding sound coming from from my front brakes when I applied them. I have this car for about 4 years now and I don't know the last time the the pads were replaced. I have called a few local shops and have got repair estimates ranging from $79 to one guy telling me $450! He claimed that the grinding noise means I need to replace the rotors as well as the pads. That doesn't sound right at all. So can anyone give me an idea of what this replacement should cost? I also heard to stay away from the national chains like Midas and Munro because they over charge.

I think you have a mager power to ground problem, look at your biggest power cables one being battery to starter and see if there is any way it could be touching ground, possibley when under tork,. Do this by putting the car in drive and holding the brake, then accelerate the throtle from low RPM to high . if it cuts out look at which way the engine tips under a load, find the cable and repair it. this may be way out of the park, but it is worth a try. Selling price of a 1974 Chevrolet custom deluxe10 (350 small block) 1/2 ton pickup not in the best condition?
the front end needs to be replace as in tie rods, pit man arms things like that and most if not all the seals need to be replaced and the rims need to be sanded out because they are out of shape. and the carburetor needs an over haul kit since it not acting right. the gas gauge doesn't work and neither does the thermostat so there is a replacement for that. the hood is bending because the way it was built but its not noticeable. and it original green paint job is rusting out but is only minor. belts need to be tightened or replaced with a serpentine belt and pulley system. the a/c is gone. there is a driver side crack in the window shield like a spider web so that needs to be replaced. one of the head lights isn't adjusted right. the under side of the body is rusting out since its covered in dirt (former farm truck). currently the truck only get 3 miles to the gallon. new transmission, along side with new headers and cams shaft. the spark plugs are cross arcing to the exhaust manifold. and the exhaust pipes need to be mounted since they are held on by hay bailing wire. there is more work for me to handle on my own since this was a surprise to me if i would have known it would take my money i wouldn't have accepted it as a graduation gift. i just need, seriously need to know what an honest price for this would be. its a champ stuck in the mud since i can't put the money into it to fix it. wish i cold but i just need a car that is reliable and at the moment this isn't since the transmission pan gasket has leaked all the fluid out of it. new battery though. but it has problem starting when it gets cold so it probably need a new starter solenoid, or ignition switch.

Car died and wont start?
I have a 90 lumina 3.1. Today making a right turn on the highway my car died. Didn't even know it until I went to make the turn and had no steering. Now it won't start. The only problems I had previously was a engine vibration when idling and a occasional sputter when driving. It would sputter and as soon as I'd take my foot off the gas it went away. Battery and alternator is ok. Spark plugs have about 10000 on them with new wires and IAC valve.any ideas?

Tranny troubles; any advice?
I currently have a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Euro, 3.1 engine and a 4-speed transmission with a mechanically-engaged overdrive. Recently, I have been having problems with my overdrive gear. When I go to work, which is about 45 miles away, the overdrive would not engage at all until about a mile away from work. I have already changed the transmission fluid and added some Lucas Oil transmission treatment and it still will not work. Any thoughts? Hopefully, this doesn't resort to me rebuilding the transmission after I get a newer car in better shape.

I would feel comfortable driving the car except it would be costly to replace these panels and don't want to fix it myself. Exhaust Manifold Gasket?
I have a 90 Lumina 3.1. I have exhaust gas leaking in through my heater. I just need weatherstripping under my hood to fix it but have other questions. I noticed where my flexpipe meets the manifold..it is loose. I can shove a screwdriver in there. I noticed only two loose bolts as well. Isn't there 3? What symptoms would cause a bad manifold gasket? I have had a ticking sound that increases with speed for about 3 years now and it is not suspension or tire related (or timing either). Would this decrease my MPG's and what other damage would this do to my car if I drove it for about 3 months like this? BTW..the exhaust from flexpipe back is new.

Your converter in middle of car is plugged and causing heat to rise in your engine and your exhaust manifold, as you seem to keep driving knowing you have a problem. Howard has a good point...the 'reader' is not diagnostic. Sensor 2 is the 'downstream' one, further from the engine that the #1 sensor. 'Bank 1' usually refers to the passenger side (in the US) of the car. While the sensor might be 'repairable' , at about $60 for most units, it's not worth my time to worry about it...pull the old one out, screw the new one in...done. The auto store has a 'split socket' tool you can borrow to make it easier.

have the thermostat checked .. it may be sticking open.. if you have a Temperature gauge . see if the temp drops every time the air get cool .. that points to a thermostat.

What is wrong with this darn car?
90 Lumina 3.1. I have had 3 mechanics look at this car, I have looked at this car and my husband has as well. No one can find anything wrong. Symptoms: car rumbles on RF intermittently, especially in snow. If the RF hits a bump, i.e speed pump or gas caps at gas stations it moves my steering wheel. I have a clunk that is felt on stopping and accelerating. I can coast to a stop sign and it doesn't do it. Depending on what kind of bump I hit I get a sound under the RF. Steering wheel feels heavy at times. Car makes slight clunk that is felt going into drive intermittenly and has always had a clunk going in reverse. When making a sharp turn left it feels as if the tire is going to fold under the car as if too much weight or whatever is present. I suspected suspension related but watched 2 mechanics take apart my struts and they are fine. All balljoints and tire rod ends are new as well as sway bar bushings. Control arms look fine and struts and mounts are a year old. Engine mounts and dogbones are new. Tires are new. I get great gas mileage. I can pull and yank at the tires and they dont budge. The whole rear suspension is new. I suspect I have a broken tranny mount but when checked the new engine mount moves more than the tranny mount and it isnt much.Ideas before I start shelling out alot of money replacing stuff I really don't need?
Chevy Equinox electrical?
My 2005 Chevrolet Equinox used to turn off radio when exiting my vehicle, and my interior lights would turn on entering, and my driver window did work. But recently I noticed none of these work, they very, very rarely do, and I don't have any issues with any other door/window, they all work just fine. The sensor, or whatever it's called, to know when the door is closed or opened isn't bad, I don't think because it's interfering with my windows too. I'm not quite sure where to start on troubleshooting it.

They are all an alloy of aluminum, but that should not affect the clear coat one way or another...
Is it common for a check engine light to go on and off a lot?
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Impala with the 3.4 V6 with around 76k on it? Back in November 20th, 2010, my check engine light came on. I went to two auto parts stores and they both gave me an EGR code, saying that my EGR valve is faulty. Since then that light goes off and on (probably 6 or 7 times that light came on, went off, came back on, went off). At first it went off for 3 weeks, then it came back on and after that is gas been coming on and off. When the light comes on I am driving the car (it doesn't come on when I first start it). Some times it only comes on for 2 days then it goes off again. As of now the light is off. I put 2 bottles of STP fuel injector cleanrer in my tank (somebody that knows about cars told me to do that), and it seems to help. Okay, is it really my EGR valve acting up or something else like a sensor? Is it bad to drive around with a faulty EGR valve?
