Blew head gasket in accident fine before?

hit another car at about 30 to 35 miles per hour. Not much damage to car but immediately after accident I had white smoke and a very rough running 2005 chevrolet Equinox. Body repair shop told insurance company not accident related. Only ran 5 minites max after accident.
