I have a 1994 chevrolet silverodo 3500 and it keeps shuting off on me while i'm driving, what's the problem?
i could be driving down the road and my truck will shut off on me but it will start right back up. and it seems like the longer i keep the truck running the more it gives me problems. Just need to know what the problem is and how can it be fixed.

Lumpy engine idling, petrol 1.2 DOHC 16valve Chevrolet Aveo?
hello just took delivery of a brand new Aveo petrol model 1.2 DOHC 16valve 60 miles on the clock and at idling of 500rpm it dont seem to be idling that smoothly at normal engine temperature. If I crank up the revs to 1000rpm the engine to's and fro's from 1000 to 1500rpm on its own. when on 500rpm it stays still there at 500rpm but sort of vibrates rather than idling smoothly. Do you reckon should take it back to dealers, or should I wait until engin has 'run in' a bit more seeing as its new or maybe the ECU is working in 'safe mode' and after amount of time will 'learn' and then it will idle better? - what do you reckon? its not bad but its a bit of a niggle especially on a brand new car like this.
Is getting $225 for this car the best I can do?
I have a 1995 chevy Lumina with over 168,000 miles on it. The car still runs well. I had 7 people out to look at the car for which I asked $500 but everyone walked away and didn't offer to buy it. The problem is the rocker panels are so corroded and this turned people off and they know it is expensive to pass inspection. There is a place that will buy it for $225 and the car will be crushed. I feel like I am giving the car away for this little bit of money. Since nobody wanted to buy the car I guess this is the best I can do. Is getting rid of this car for $225 a good deal?

I have a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity, that I really don't like what's the general opinion on such a car?
The car has little over 34,000 original miles and is absolutley pristine completely original, but it just doesn't add up to what I expect in a vehicle. It does ride well and is decently powered (2.8 V6) but it has no power windows or locks, doesnt even have a cassette player only AM/FM, and has a straight cloth bench seat. I am used to my previous car a newer Cadillac Deville which I traded in for my other car, a Mustang GT. I look around on various car websites and see that the Cadillacs are around the $5000 range for a 1998ish model and it makes me wish I didnt have the Celebrity. Is the Celebrity worth anything to a collector, as it is literally showroom new with original tires etc??? And has anybody that ever owned one actually liked it???

sound like your rotors are warped from to much heat. try new pads and before you put new rotors on check and see how much your local shop charges to cut the old rotors.
My car vibrates when I try to quickly accelerate?
it very well could be the crankshaft problem, worn bearing or warped crank. that would deffiantly cause the car to shake, especially when flooring it because it is spinning faster and with more energy. take it to a shop to check it, its usually a semi easy check, they just got to remove the oil pan and they may have to take it out. that will cost some money. especially if it has to be replaced.

Why won't my car stay running?
My 94 chevy lumina will not stay running. I already changed my fuel filter and my pump is still working fine. I have checked to see if there is arc and two of the wires I checked I got nothing. So now what do I do know, I do know if its a bad spark plug wire or something else that is causing it not to fire. It will start up and run fine then just shut off thats when I checked for spark and got nothing. It only starts once or twice a day and thats all I can get out of it. When it does run it runs really good. Does not make any sounds that a spark plug is missing or not getting enough fuel. It shuts off as if I turned the key off myself. Sorry if little confusing thanks for any help

My car's engine won't stop ticking?
Hi, I have a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 (2.4l Twin Cam) (LD9) and my engine is making a ticking noise coming from what seems to be the exhaust cam tower. I could be wrong, but i definately know it is coming from the top of the engine. When i'm driving around, the ticking is most noticable at a steady cruising rpm. For example, If im driving and I give it throttle, the ticking stops but once i let off alittle it ticks again and when i let go of the gas it stops, but then starts again once the engine goes back to idle (It's a standard transmission). This also happens when in neutral and gets a little louder when reving the engine in idle. I tore the engine apart and replaced the lifters because I assumed it was the lifters. While I was down there i also replaced the head gasket, waterpump, and a whole new timing set. I put it back together jsut to find out, it still has the exact same tick. The problem with this engine too, is it can be a real ***** to work on. I measured the cam lobes and like one or two of the lobes where slightly off (less then a milimeter) and I didnt have enough money to do the cams aswell considering I replaced 16 lifters, which wasn't cheap itself. The car has aprox. 204, 000 KM on it. any suggestions? Thanks!

My 2004 Cavalier will not start on first try but will on Second try?
That could be your fuel pump.If the check valve on the top isn't sealing it will let the fuel pressure bleed off the fuel rail.Then when you try to start it it just cranks over.When the fuel rail pressurizes again it will start and be ok til the car sits for too long again.Try an experiment.Turn the key(so the fuel pump will start) on but don't try to start it.Do that several times then crank it over and see if it starts right up.

It really depends on the engine condition. The 3.8 is a good engine that will last a long time if its been taken care of.

Faulty fuel pressure regulator?
I have a 90 lumina 3.1 sedan. My car died yesterday and wouldn't restart. Replaced the coil packs and it starts but dies. When I took off the air hose it was full of gas. Left it off and noticed gas comes out of the air intake and then it dies. Prior I had a miss at idle and slight miss when driving. Just this week I noticed bad fuel mileage. Any ideas?

I think its pretty much split between the car, the tires and the drivers ability. I lived on a hill with a curve in the middle. one snow storm, the 4wd and fwd, were parked at the bottom of the hill and I drove a rwd car up to the house.

What does Z24 and SuperSport mean on a Chevrolet?
I know Chevrolet have the sideline team of automobiles branded with the "Z" but what does it mean? On a Honda when they call it a vtec the only difference is it has the VTech head(as far as I understand). I can take a stock civic and replace the stock head with a VTech head ( and one other thing but I can't think of the name right now) and the car is now a vtec civic(as far as I understand)(I could be wrong) So that's my question. Is a cavalier only a z24 when the 2.4l engine is under the hood or is their other modifications needing to be done to the car. Can I take 2.2l cavalier and replace the engine with a 2.4l engine and it be called a Z24 or do I need to make other mods and alterations as well (diff chassis, better suspension, is it a narrower body frame, more aerodynamic, different shaped headlights, etc.) I'm also curious about the same thing for the differences between base model chevy's and SS model chevy's. Your alternator went out, probably. The battery is normally only used to start the car. Then the alternator (works like an electrical generator) supplies the cars electricity and keeps the battery charged. The light is to tell you the car's voltage is low, the battery isn't being charged. The battery will not run the car for very long. Charge the battery or install a charged battery and take the car to a repair shop or a automotive parts store. They can test it and tell you if its the alternator or the battery.

Bring your vehicle to a local shop and have the battery and the alternator load tested. This will assist in determining if your problem is electrical related.... Mechanically, the starter could be failing as well.

If the setting is on MAX AC and it is the computer climate control it will keep the blower at max. Check your heater control valve, make sure it works, or at least moves!!
Truck wont start and can not figure out what is wrong?
I drive a 2002 Chevrolet s10 4.3L. Just about a year ago I drove up to my moms work fine and when i tried to go home my truck would not start and we had to get it towed home. Then later that night the truck started.. Now it wont start again. My dad just bought a new battery today thinking that was the problem, but it still wont work. 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic Brake Light Issue.?
I own a 2007 Silverado Classic, when I depress the brakes the Cab 3rd Light comes on but the actual left and right tail light brake bulbs don't come on. I have replaced them and nothing happened. I thought it may have been the switch on the pedal but that would not explain the 3rd light coming on. Any ideas other than bulbs, switch or fuses of what I should do to fix it? Any help would be great. (Also word of advice if you ever get a chance to buy one of these trucks, politely decline as they are utter garbage!)
Temperature gauge not working?
i have a 1993 chevrolet astro van and the temp gauge doesnt work when i start it it will move over to hot then right back to cold and stay there any suggestions of what it might be and another thing is heat only works through the defrost and in the floor vents but the dash vents wont work any ideas about that any input would be appreciated

today i got my first car. a 1994 chevrolet prizm it runs well and is in really good condition except for some chipped paint on the roof.
Why is my car acting like it doesn't have any gas even though it does?
Fuel filter. Make sure the fuels is good too every time you leave the tank empty the temprature change between the night and day causes condensation in the tank. A dirty Idle Air motor or Throttle valve will cause running problems too. Make sure your Exaust Gas Recirculation valve is working also. Vaccuum leaks will cause these games too.

What's wrong with my transmission?
I have a 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1L, 92K and before today I had no issues with the transmission. I live in upstate NY so the last week or so we have gotten a ton of snow and I've been driving through it. As this is my first winter with the car I was pretty impressed with how powerful it was in the snow. However this morning when I put my car in drive once i get over 25 MPH (1st gear) it doesn't go into second but seems to be back in neutral? Any advice? Am I screwed?
Do I need anything else in my new saltwater tank?
I just bought a used biocube (all parts intact and working, great shape) and have filled it with water (specific gravity 1.024, slightly high but in normal range, pH=8.2). In the tank I have live rock and live sand given to me by the seller of the biocube from another established tank. It is probably about 10-12 lb of live rock, and enough live sand to provide just under an inch of bottom cover. I also am adding biozyme (I think that's what it's called) to give bacterial colonies a boost. Is there anything else I should add/take out for cycling? Namely, should it have another source of ammonia, or should I add in cured live rock/not live sand to the tank? I've heard from some that these should be the majority of my tank, with the live rock/live sand consituting only a small portion during cycling. I just want to do everything right and I want the tank to cycle properly....

Here is my background: I have done Marine Corps OCS twice, making it 7 weeks the first time and 9 weeks the second time. The physical part wasn't too bad, except for the hiking. I have really flat feet, so I get shin splints. I could still run, but the hikes with all that weight were too much. I was dropped from the program because I couldn't finish the hike. So if Navy OCS is a lot of pushups, crunches, pullups, running, etc. I should be fine. I just want to know basically if there is anything that compares to a Marine Corps hike.

I read where scrap prices are up now. A guy I work with thought I could get $600 for my car as scrap. Should I expect to get anymore for car through a scrap yard or should I sell it to a junk yard?
How does a car window spontaneously explode?
My dad was driving to work one winter evening when the rear window of this 1997 Chevy Lumina exploded (currently Dec 2010). No shards were left in the frame; it was completely free of glass. His first thought was that someone shot it either with a bb gun or a real gun. But then someone he talked to suggested that the rear defroster may have shorted out causing the explosion. It is still the same night that it happened so my dad has not had a chance to look in his car for any type of projectile. Has anyone heard of this happening?
What do I need to do to get my Lumina Running?
First get a cat. I'll bet the air cleaner and other parts of the car have been home to mice. Change all the fluids. ALL! That's a long list, don't forget the brake fluid. Rubber hoses, belts and vacuum lines should all be checked for cracks, soft spots and...mouse chews. Might as well throw on a set of spark plug wires while you are at it. Other things will come to mind as you progress. Good luck. Try to siphon it first if no joy you may need to drop the tank. A pain in the butt but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I think I'd find and remove the connector...you'll need to do this anyway if you rem the sensor. Clean and pinch a little with pliers, if design allows it, and replace...trouble may go away. If not, replace it then replace the sensor last.

How do I get rid of the moisture in my car?
This is the first winter that it has been this cold since i bought my car. It is a 2006 grand prix. What i continue to notice on these frigid days is water continues to build and freeze on the inside of my windows. Is there any fixes for this? I never had issues like this with my 1991 lumina. I tried turning on the heat to melt it but it would just pool up into big drops on my window. When i tried wiping it it would smear and become frost.
Chevy Transmission Problems HELP!!?
Ok so i brought a Chevrolet Lumina SS (2001 model) yesterday and there is already a problem! I was driving down the highway when all of a sudden the car stopped accelerating and just started revving? as if it had been put into neutral. when i pulled over and stopped the car it seemed to pull away fine then again it just kept revving no gear change and no power to the wheels. then when second finally kicked in (at about 6000 rpm) and i reduced speed when i tried to accelerate again the same thing happened! Its like it goes into neutral at every gear change? I really hope i don't have to change the transmission already! I know its a very vague explanationhe best i can do lol. Any help would be really appreciated.

Question about a A/C Compressor?
My 1995 Chevrolet Lumina LS A/C Compressor is messing up. For awhile it was making a horible noise. Like squeeling. And then it went away for like 3k miles. Now it was back and it broke my belt. I was driving and it started running hot. The power steering stoped. Battery light came on. And i pulled over and the belt broke. I Know it is from the A/C Compressor. But the pully on the Compressor spins fine. So someone told me to disconnect the wire that plugs into the compressor and it should be fine but i wont have air conditioning or defrost. Is that true? Any help would be great.

My 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier today didn't start. i went out to drive to school like every day. but as i went to start it it made the same noises it always does. the little revving noise. only difference was it didnt turn over and start like usual. i tried again and again with no effect. i didnt want to flood it so i only tried hitting the gas like people told me once or twice but there was no effect. idk if the batterys dead or what. we replaced the engine and transmission when we first got it so it shouldnt be them. any answers?
